RSG4 (Elite)

RSG3 is the top level in our development program.

The emphasis of the RSG4 progression is program is twofold.

First, participating athletes will follow a sophisticated development curriculum. Through this program, they will be exposed to advanced tactical, positional, and transitional training. These repetitions enable the goalie to make “real” change in their technical response.

Second, while many goalies develop strong technical assets, they are not mentored in the instinctive, competitive and anticipatory skills sets. Expansion of these intangibles is often the missing piece of the puzzle and the primary emphasis of the GDI4 progression.

The RSG4 program supplements on-ice technical, tactical, and power skating sessions with an off-ice program that includes yoga, VR training, hand-eye training, and video analysis. Presentations by guest speakers on topics such as mental training, nutrition, fitness and other topics relevant to elite goaltenders are often included. A dryland training program may be offered if there is sufficient interest.

RSG4 should be considered for goaltenders in the following categories:

  • Are Bantam, Midget or Junior age;

  • Have attended RSG or other specialized goaltending programs in the past;

  • Have a strong “Level of Play” indicator;

  • Demonstrate strong aspirations to compete at higher levels (AAA, Junior A, Major Junior, etc.); or,

  • Are on the bubble between RSG3 and RSG4, have previously been to RSG camps, and want to make the jump to the next level; these goaltenders should be more aggressive with their camp choice.

The RSG4 curriculum is available as a 4 or 6-week summer program; in addition, we often offer this curriculum in a compressed 2-1/2 day weekend program leading up to HPP camps (if demand exists)
